A comeback Medvedev secured his maiden championship for 882 days with a win over opponent Moutet in the Almaty Open championship match.

The athlete, a ex- top-ranked player, has endured a difficult season, achieving just one match at the big events and undergoing a difficult moment at the New York tournament.

His inconsistency on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his serve in especial - caused him exiting of the top ten and eventually parting ways with long-term trainer Cervara.

Presently collaborating with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, he has steadily improved in the past month - peaking in a closely contested competitive victory over opponent Moutet.

It is his first trophy following the Italian tournament and first on a hard court from March of the previous year.

"It's the first time I'm at a tournament with my two daughters together, so to get a trophy is particularly special," said tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.

"This victory is in dedication of my child Victoria, because the first title I got when my older daughter my daughter was delivered was for her."

The athlete, the former major winner, had lost his last six championship matches, comprising in the German tournament earlier this year.

Medvedev's retrieving approach and frequent outbursts on court had prompted observers to doubt if his skill to perform at the elite level was finished.

Yet the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in recent weeks, making an effort to approach the net and compete aggressively, reinforced by an improved service.

The champion fought back from a break down in the first set against the tricky Frenchman, taking four of the final five games to take the lead.

The pair swapped break points in the middle set before Moutet, bidding for his initial professional championship, seized the initiative to create a third set.

The opponent rescued 4 early break points in a competitive final set before the champion broke to fifteen to close out the victory.

Suitably, he earned victory with a rally at the net, with the Frenchman unable to manage a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
